We All Have Those Friends…

… that no matter how many times you have posted on your Facebook wall that some political news websites and blogs are haox and faux, they. Still. Do. Not. Get. It. Kulang na lang i-tag ko sila sa mga posts ko para alam nila na it is for them. It is getting into my nerves EVERY TIME I see them sharing links of unconfirmed and unverified news, as long as it “praises” and “glorifies” their political bias. What is more annoying is these people are educated ones and experts in their own fields, but a simple thing as identifying a verified and confirmed news site is hard for them to do? Does the political situation in the Philippines dumb down people already, even those who have higher learning?

… that post too wordy and angry statuses on Facebook almost all the time that it gets tiring and weary even just seeing their names on your feed. Sometimes it hurts to see that these people are your close friends in real life, and to see that they have become beasts online because of their political views, especially when those are the opposite of your own, it makes you think whether sometimes they are secretly mad or annoyed at you, or calling you those degrading names they usually call those who do not share the same views as you. I even have one person from ny home city who blocked me because of politics. Wow.

So, what to do now? Unfollow them, even though you want to see how they are doing and what they are up to in their lives, but seeing them being associated with toxic stuff (at least for me), you might as well do this. Next time you see each other, you do not know all the batshit things they post on their SNS and you can still be as good friends as before sans politics. I have started purging my Facebook now, and as much as I can, I will start using my WordPress again for my own opinion and views.

Another “No Complaining” Week

Complaining-Quotes-46

Last Sunday, I challenged myself to reduce complaining. It has become a normal reaction for me when things do not go my way, and tell you, it does not help me at all. When I bitch about work, it does not reduce it. It still remains the same. The downside of it, complaining makes it harder for you to accomplish your task and hampers brain activity needed to accomplish it.
So, what happened when I stopped complaining for 6/7 days last week?
  • Less stress. I was able to save my energy to do something more productive and achieve more.
  • Productive. I was able to think of ways to stop myself from being bored with what I do. Knowing myself, I cannot focus on one thing for a long time, especially when I do not like what I do. V1 is a drag, but I was able to do it without being crabby. Yay!
  • Seeing things differently. Solutions come when you first shut your mouth when encountering a problem. There were a lot of “Oooooh, I think I should do this, I should do that” moments, which make me feel good about myself.
  • Getting praised and appreciated. This is something unexpected. I did not complain over some situation; instead, I was able to think of a solution to an otherwise tedious and time-consuming work. “Wow, I learn something from you today” is one of the best compliments one can get.
I broke my streak when our Internet connection went shitty last night. I could no longer help it since I have been patient and holding back my temper for week already. I think this is a legit reason enough. (And still, my complaining did not do anything to make our connection better, but at least I was able to vent out my pent-up frustration.)
How did I do it? It was never easy, especially when you want to throw glass tables on people’s faces for being too stupid. Ugh. In this case, stay away from negative people. When you sense someone coming over to your workstation, put on your headphones and play heavy metal music in max volume. Or put up this sign on your desk: “Please, not this week, Satan. Shoo!” I have my own work to do. I, too, am struggling, and I do not you to drag me down with your troubles when you definitely know how to deal with it. Get a tree and talk to it.

Unless you have a solution to your complaint. But if you already have a solution, why need to complain, yes? Again, get a tree and talk to it.
Stay away from comments in social media. Especially those comments that make you wonder what those people are smoking. If these people plant trees for every insult, rude comments, and complaints that they type, global warming is solved.
What is with the trees? Well, I love trees, and trees do not complain.
Hopefully, I can do another week of no complaining. COMPLAINING NEVER MAKES ANYTHING BETTER.

Writing on windows feel so liberating! It has the thrill of  doing something bad like vandalism, but you know you would not get caught with it and you are not leaving any ugly writings. (Though some lettering on graffiti are so nice!) I am using the erasable chalk pens Phoebe sent me. 🙂

Me at work. Shet, fatness.

I enjoyed this day, and I am glad I and my teammates get to bond over something as a simple yet cute breakfast like this.

Pen Stories

I know I should not be buying ‪ pens‬ until next week, but I found ‪‎Zig‬ ‪Kuretake‬ ‪ ‎Cocoiro‬ letter pen in SUNSET ORANGE, and I could not let her go! Now that my bright ‪letter pens‬ are complete, I can now finally take a breather.

But those Faber Castell pastel PITT fineliners are so tempting!

Getting My Health Back

health-quote-11Lately, I have been feeling sluggish, unproductive at work, lazy, and tired all the time, and I know that one of the reasons for it is my health. Two years ago, I ran 12 kilometers daily; now, I barely make 500 steps a day! I spend most of my time sitting, especially at work. Now, it is taking a toll on my health.

I read this article about Marie Kondo, the founder of KonMari method of decluttering, how she declutters her brain, and I tried it to see if I could identify the problem and make positive action plans towards those problems. Everything starts with the feeling, so yes, I will break it down one by one why I am not feeling good the past days.

#rockyourhandwriting: Where I Write

#rockyourhandwriting: Where I Write

On my bed, my “other workstation.” We just have a small space at home, and I want all my tools and supplies in front of me or within my reach when I am working. Also, I love to lie on my tummy with my feet up in the air while writing, which you cannot do when you are writing on a table, yes?

In the picture, I have my Staedtler Triplus fineliners, Faber Castell coloured pencils, Soft Color milk gel pens, Dong-A Playon colour fineliners and markers, sticky notes, stickers, my snowman coffee mug which I used as a penholder for the meantime. Inside are my Pilot G-Tech Maica 0.4 gel pens, Muji gel pens in 0.38, Zig Kutetake Cocoiro letter pens, a cutter, and correction tape. On the left side is my A5 silver mesh bag filled with stickers and sticker notes. Of course, I need my Samsung Galaxy Tab to browse and save journal photos for ideas and inspiration.
